ABOUT ME

Life is a constant flow, and sometimes change occurs when we plan it, and at other times when we had no plans for it at all. That may be when we feel most confused, frustrated, lost, and unsure of ourselves and the world around us. Change can also be drastic, and traumatic. Traumatic experiences are particularly difficult to resolve without professional help and support. They can lead to development of anxiety, anger management problems, sleep problems, poor self-esteem, fears and phobias, relationship problems, nightmares, feelings of numbness and disconnection, and depression. I have extensive experience in treating people who have had childhood and adult traumas, including sexual traumas and combat traumas. My hope, my goal, and my passion, is helping people through these difficult times.

My other significant interests and experience is working with people going through major relationships problems, divorce, and difficult relationships in family of origin. I have spent several years working with college students, adults, and seniors, helping them build strong relationships with others.

Having immigrated with my family at the age of 12, I felt I could best contribute to the field of pschology by drawing on my own experiences, and use my training and understanding of human behavior to find ways to help other immigrants. I developed a therapy program that focuses on helping immigrants transition and adjust to a new life and a new culture while maintaining their heritage and creating a new identify that is a balance of their full experiences, values, and beliefs. The title of my dissertation is "From Immigrant To Hybrid: Promoting Integration Among Adult Immigrants". I continue to use my expertise in helping people adjust to all types of different changes in their lives.
